What I Do

This page is for those who are looking for a professional summary.

43 years as a police officer in one of Germany’s largest police organisations include 23 years of a wide national career and 20 years of international assignments related to conflict and post-conflict situations on a global scale. Senior functions in the United Nations and the European Union, both in the field and in headquarters. Since retirement from active service (2020) I am self-employed, including work as a long-term adviser for the German Federal Foreign Office. With a geographical focus on the Smal Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Roadmap of the Western Balkans, global aspects of Weapons Control are part of my portfolio as well.

Within the limits of my time and capacity I can be contacted for short term and long term advise and consultancy.

Since 2014 I maintain this blog, on which I regularly publish my research and opinion related to international matters of Peace, Security, Justice, and Reconciliation.

I am working on three book projects.
